How long does a design project take?
The timeline depends heavily on the complexity and style of the project. It is also important to consider that the decision-making process varies for each client, and having a clear vision for your future interior plays a significant role. Therefore, precise timelines are established during our initial meeting or while developing the design brief. On average, designing a space of 100 to 250 sq.m. takes about 1.5 to 2 months.
How many projects do you handle simultaneously?
To ensure maximum immersion, I only develop one design project at a time. Concurrently, I may oversee a maximum of one active construction site (provided it is past its initial phases), as project management is a highly demanding process. Limiting my focus allows me to dedicate the necessary time and attention to every detail of your space.
Is it possible to order a partial design project?
Yes. Sometimes a comprehensive design project isn’t necessary, or you might simply want to experience my working process first. In such cases, you can order a spatial planning solution separately. Alternatively, you can request just the technical drawing package, which is essential for construction work and streamlines the procurement of materials, furniture, and equipment.
Why do design project costs vary so much in the market?
The cost of a design project directly reflects the quality, depth, and detail of the final product you receive. While the deliverables of different designers might look similar at a glance, there are profound differences—especially noticeable if you are dealing with technical drawings for the first time.
Today, beautiful 3D visualizations are highly accessible, but they alone do not guarantee a quality project. Pay close attention to the technical drawing package. Often, lower-cost or “free” projects (offered as a bonus by construction crews) provide incomplete documentation. A professional designer’s drawings are highly detailed, featuring precise construction nodes, accurate material specifications, layouts, and more.
Furthermore, a designer’s expertise and approach are invaluable. Despite being an art form, design relies heavily on a strict understanding of ergonomics, the physics of lighting, and foundational construction principles. Placement of lighting fixtures, utility routing, and spatial ergonomics must adhere to strict rules. Pricing depends heavily on how deeply the designer immerses themselves in your project. A dedicated designer thoroughly studies materials, consults with engineers, and conducts on-site expert assessments. This level of involvement requires significant time, which naturally affects the cost.
Conversely, designers who take on multiple concurrent projects may offer a lower price per square meter, but their immersion in your specific project will be proportionately lower. Ultimately, it comes down to the level of detail and dedication you want for your future home.
If I hire a designer, can I save money by hiring an unqualified construction crew?
Absolutely not. Many people confuse technical supervision with architectural (designer’s) supervision.
- Technical supervision is conducted by a foreman or an independent consultant with formal construction education and practical experience. They are strictly responsible for the execution of rough construction, wall leveling, room geometry, material quality, and plumbing slopes, which requires specialized equipment.
- Architectural supervision (the service provided by the designer) ensures the final result matches the initial visual concept. It involves selecting finishing materials and coordinating with contractors for decorative work.
The designer does not interfere with the physical construction. If a construction crew works poorly, cuts corners on materials, or ignores finishing protocols, neither the designer nor the technical supervisor can save the project. Mistakes will inevitably lead to redoing the work, budget overruns, and severe delays.
Often, unqualified crews work without a formal contract. If you point out their mistakes, they might simply walk away. A professional crew will detail all their services in a contract—from debris removal to material hoisting—preventing unexpected “extra charges” that secretly inflate your budget. Transparency costs more upfront, but hiring a “cheap” crew without a contract usually ends up costing much more in hidden fees and poor craftsmanship. You should never compromise on your builders; they are literally the people building your home and your future comfort.
